Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Chordal is developed by IndieBits LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what Chordal does — and does not — do with your information. In short: Chordal has no servers of its own, collects no analytics, and shows no ads.
What Chordal stores
Chordal saves your practice data so the app can teach you and track your progress. This includes:
- Lesson history, typing speed and accuracy, and streaks
- Chord mastery and per-class performance statistics
- Device profiles you create or import (including
.cfgconfigurations) - App settings and preferences
Where your data lives
Your practice data is stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit. This lets your progress sync across your own Apple devices.
We do not operate any servers, and your practice data is never sent to us or to any third party. Data stored in your private iCloud database is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and Apple's Privacy Policy. Only you, through your Apple ID, can access it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, your data simply stays on your device.
What we do not collect
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising or advertising identifiers
- No third-party SDKs that collect data
- No account, email, or login is required to use Chordal
Purchases
Chordal offers an optional one-time in-app purchase, Chordal Pro. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Apple may share aggregate, non-identifying sales data with us. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchase data.
Children's privacy
Chordal does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your privacy rights (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR. Because Chordal has no servers and does not collect or receive your personal data, we do not hold any personal information about you. Your practice data stays on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud database that only you can access through your Apple ID.
- Data controller: IndieBits LLC, reachable via our contact form.
- What we process: We do not process your personal data on our own servers, and never for advertising, profiling, or resale.
- Your rights: You may access, correct, delete, restrict, export, or object to processing of your personal data. Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud, you can exercise these directly — delete data in the app, manage or sign out of iCloud, or remove the app.
- Apple's role: Data in your private iCloud database and any purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Right to complain: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
